The short version
- We use essential cookies to make the site work, and basic statistics to see how it is used.
- The statistics count visits, where visitors come from, which buttons are clicked, and how many people start and finish our forms. We use them only to improve the site.
- You can opt out of the statistics at any time, for free, in one step.
- We do not use cookies for advertising or to follow you around other websites.

2What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your phone, tablet or computer when you visit. They let the site remember you, keep it working properly and give its owner information about how it is used.
Other technologies work in a similar way, such as web storage in your browser, tracking pixels and scripts. UK law covers all of them. In this policy we call them all "cookies".
3How we use them
Essential cookies
These are needed to give you the website you asked for. They keep the site secure, make our forms work, share traffic across our servers and remember the choices you make about cookies. If you create an account or sign in, they also keep you signed in while you use the site. The law lets us use them without your consent. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the site may then stop working.
Statistics
We measure how people use our website. We count:
- how many times each page is viewed, and how many visits there are, using a session identifier that does not name you;
- which website or search brought a visitor to us;
- which buttons and links are clicked;
- how many people start and finish our consultation request and companion application forms; and
- how many people create an account.
We use these statistics to improve the site and to see whether it is helping families and companions find us. We look at the results as totals, and our website platform sends us a weekly summary. We do not use them for advertising, to build a profile of you, or to follow you across other websites.
The law allows basic statistics like these without consent, as long as we tell you what we do and give you a free and simple way to opt out. You can opt out at any time (section 5).
Our forms
Our consultation request form and our companion application ask you to type in contact details and other information. That information is not kept in cookies. We handle it as described in our Privacy Policy. Our statistics count only how many forms are started and finished. They do not use what you type.
Advertising
We do not use cookies to show you advertising, to build a profile of your interests or to follow you across other websites. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy before we start.
4Cookies from other organisations
Some cookies are set by other organisations that provide services on or alongside our site. We do not control these cookies, and each organisation is responsible for them.
- Our website platform. Our website is built and hosted on Base44, which sets the essential cookies that keep the site running and secure, and which collects the statistics described in section 3.
- Stripe. When you pay us, you do it on Stripe's own secure payment page. Stripe sets cookies there for security and fraud prevention, under Stripe's own privacy and cookie policies.
- Social media. Our site links to our Facebook and Instagram pages. Those links open the other sites, which set their own cookies once you are there.
Any other organisation that sets cookies through our site is named in the list in section 7.
5Your choices
When you first visit
A short notice tells you that we use essential cookies and basic statistics. It links to this policy and lets you turn the statistics off. Opting out is as easy as carrying on.
Opting out of statistics, or changing your mind
You can opt out of statistics at any time, and change your mind later, using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. It is free and takes one step. Opting out does not change how the site works for you. It does not affect anything we did before you opted out.
Essential cookies
You cannot turn essential cookies off on our site, because it needs them to work. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the site, including our forms, may then stop working.
Using your browser
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. The help pages of your browser explain how.
6How long they last
Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser. These are called session cookies. Others stay on your device for a set time. These are called persistent cookies.
We keep each cookie for as short a time as we can. The list in section 7 shows how long each one lasts. When we remember your choices, we do so for a limited time.
7The cookies in detail
This list shows each cookie or similar technology our website uses, who sets it, what it does, which type it is and how long it lasts.
[Cookie list: for each cookie, its name, who sets it, what it does, its type and how long it lasts]
8Your personal information
Some cookies collect information that can identify you, such as your IP address or a device identifier. We handle it as described in our Privacy Policy. That policy also explains your rights, including how to complain (section 13 and section 14 of the Privacy Policy).
9Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we change the cookies we use or when the law changes. The latest version is always on this page, with its date at the top. If we add a type of cookie that needs your consent, we will ask for it before we use it.
